Kyushu

Kyushu is the southernmost of the large islands which form Japan.  It was the gateway for Asian and European traders.

A bridge leads to Hirado Island
where we enjoyed the rocky coastline.
Kyushu is famous for:
Hakata dolls, hand-painted fine porcelain,
"spaghetti" porcelain (displayed on a tray from Hakone)
and blue and white pottery.
